A Great EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 is in the Books!

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 was another banner year of exhibition for Sonex and AeroConversions Products!

The 20th Annual Sonex Open House and Homecoming Fly-In was held on Sunday, the day before the start of AirVenture, with great crowds throughout the day as the public got to see and sit in the new Sonex Highwing prototype for the first time. We were proud to have the Oshkosh Area School District Brewing Futures Mobile Cafe providing great food and bevereges at our Open House again this year with all proceeds going to a great cause. The Sunday event ended with a group picture of Sonex staff and event attendees and the mass taxi of customer and factory aircraft to the AirVenture flightline.

In the Sonex and AeroConversions exhibit booth in the AirVenture Homebuilt Display Area, the excitement for the Sonex Highwing was incredible, as hundreds of folks tried the roomy and comfortable cockpit on for-size. The new prototype definitely was a contender for EAA’s “Dead Grasss Award” this year. Stay tuned for a fresh Highwing update in the next couple of days. Interest in other Sonex and AeroConversions products was also strong and many took advantage of our AirVenture 2024 Sale by placing orders at the Sonex exhibit booth. Sale Ends on August 9th, so there’s still time to save!

The Sonex Open House and Homecoming Fly-In was well attended again this year!

Sonex Factory Tours were once again held Tuesday through Saturday mornings, with many people in attendance each day. The Sonex Highwing and Onex factory prototypes were rolled-down to the Homebuilts in Review stage for a presentation on Wednesday afternoon, and on Wednesday evening the Sonex Builders and Pilots Foundation hosted another great BBQ event at 7th Heaven. On Thursday night, Sonex Owner and President Mark Schaible had the honor of speaking at the EAA Homebuilders Dinner about his beginnings as a young EAA member at Chapter 44 in Rochester, NY beginning at the age of 14.

Sonex builder Casey Cooper flew his Rotax 912ULS powered Sonex to Airventure from his home in Tucson Arizona for the fourth year in a row and showed-off his Rotax Cooling Kit, which is now available to other Sonex builders.

The entire week was graced with fantastic mild weather and the EAA spirit was strong as-ever here in Oshkosh. Thanks to all current and prospective customers who came to our Open House and to our exhibit booth to say hello, get more information about our products, and place kit and parts orders. We want to extend an especially big THANK YOU to our wonderful Sonex staff, who burned the midnight oil for several days leading up to AirVenture 2024 to get the Sonex Highwing prototype ready to show. We’ll be shutting the Sonex factory down for the week of August 26th to give everyone a well-deserved rest, so please plan ahead with your orders and technical questions prior to the 26th.

We are all looking forward to seeing you again in Oshkosh for AirVenture 2025!

Sonex staff and booth visitors alike needed a subtle reminder to “Duck!” when getting in and out of the new Sonex Highwing.
