ASA Founder John Davis Goes West

During the week of AirVenture 2024 the Sonex community received word of the passing of Sonex Builder and American Sonex Association founder John Davis. John, 84, passed away on Monday July 19th in his current home town of Crossville, TN. An Air Force veteran, John flew the C-124 Globemaster II during Vietnam and went-on to build Sonex serial number 0523. John was involved in a number of other Sonex projects and helped many other builders with their Sonexes. Founder of the American Sonex Association, John hosted an ASA Fly-In in Crossville, TN for many years with great attendance by Sonex builders and their aircraft.

In lieu of flowers and to honor John’s lifelong passion for aviation, contributions can be made to the Cumberland County High School Aviation program, which supports aspiring young pilots. Checks should be made out to: CCHS Aviation, and sent to
