Waiex W0208
After 2 years, 5 months and 7 days on the 7th of October 2017, Waiex #208 flew for the first time.
The first flight was fairly uneventful, waited the whole day for the weather to clear up after major storms and rains over the whole country. A strong cross wind, gusting up to 30 mph on the main runway did not make it any easier. But after several high speed taxi runs and a bit of tuning on the rudder-vator it took to the sky late afternoon.
Can report that the elevator is fairly sensitive and the aircraft is rolling to the left. But a bit of setup modifications and trimming will solve the problem. The Jabiru 330 performs very well and has more than enough power.
Would like to thanks Cliff Lotter, Adriaan Classen, Aubri de Wet and Hannes Vorster for their support and encouragement. Even more so, my wife, Dorette and the girls, Nadia and Lene, for the patience and support through some frustrating but also pleasant times during the build.
Thanks for all the help from the Sonex team. Really appreciated.
Now let's go fly!
