Sonex 0530

My kit, serial number 530, arrived March 6, 2003. First flight from Pecan Plantation Texas (0TX1) was completed on June 9, 2022 after roughly 1800 hrs of build time. It’s a dual stick with conventional gear powered by the 80hp Aerovee engine. Instruments include the Dynon D10 EMS, Garmin G5, Trig TY91 radio, and Artex ELT-345 emergency locator beacon. Flew the first flight without wheel pants or paint. It was a short flight - about 15 mins. The plane flew and handled beautifully -- quick, nimble and very well behaved!

It was a pleasure to build. Construction on my project was spread unevenly, on and off, over the past 19 years. My build progress was interrupted for several lengthy periods of time over the years, largely due to moves (4 times), but also by other time consuming side projects. But now it’s finally done and officially an airplane! Thanks to Sonex for the great design, remarkably detailed plans and your always dependable technical support.
