2003 Year in Review

Sonex Year in Review, 2003:

2003 was another fantastic year for Sonex,ltd. We celebrated the one-hundred year anniversary of powered flight with a long list of accomplishments and milestones. These included:
*First flights of Waiex and Xenos...3 aircraft flown on the same day -July 21, 2003!
*16 more customers flew their Sonex Aircraft for the first time
*Record Sonex Plan and Kit Sales with hundreds of Sonex Aircraft now under construction in 23 Countries throughout the world.
*Four more record-attendance builder's workshops
*Sonex co-designer Pete Buck was awarded the August Raspet Award at AirVenture 2003 for his contributions in the development of sport aircraft.
*the new Sport-Pilot ready Waiex was Featured on the October 2003 Cover of Popular Mechanics Magazine
*A previous John Monnett design, the Moni, is featured in the new Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center at Washington Dulles Airport as well as the original Moni prototype in the Innovations of Flight Gallery at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh.

We were very fortunate to be able to take a trip to Kitty hawk in mid December for the Centennial of Flight Celebration..and saw a few Sonex Builders there! It was simply an awesome feeling to stand on the same ground 100 years to the day where Orville and Wilber took their historic first
flight. Their passion to pursue their seemingly impossible goal through the many hurdles they faced continues to inspire us!

On behalf of the entire Sonex team, we would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to our customers. The enthusiasm you show about your aircraft and engines contributes directly to our success and enables us to focus on developing new and exciting aviation products for the future of Light, Sport Aircraft.

We are all very optimistic about 2004 as another successful year for Sonex,ltd and the Aviation Community, We anticipate the Light, Sport Aircraft Proposal to finally be published as a rule.
